Thousands Attend Funerals of Two Youth in IOK Shutdown in Sopore, Handwara to Mourn Martyrs

Srinagar, September 05 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of mourners attended the funeral prayers of martyred Nayeem Ahmad Najar and Pervez Ahmad Wani in their native areas in Baramulla and Kupwara districts. According to media sources, Pervez Ahmad Wani of Handwara and Nayeem Ahmad Najar of Sopore were martyred by Indian forces during crackdown operation in Shankergund area of Sopore on Monday. Thousands of people from different areas amid pro-freedom slogans marched towards Sopore and Handwara areas to attend the funerals of the martyred youth, Nayeem Ahmad and Pervez Ahmad. Women while showered candies on their bodies while mujahideen offered a gun salute to them. Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Sopore, Handwara towns and adjacent areas of Baramulla and Kupwara districts to mourn the killings of the youth. All the shops were shut while public traffic was off the roads. The troops were deployed in strength across Sopore to prevent any protests. On the other hand, five personnel of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force were injured in an attack in Qazigund area of Kulgam district while an Indian Army Officer identified as Lt Colonel Saibal Subash Dutta,38, died of suspected cardiac arrest at Military Hospital in Satwari area of Jammu.
