Friday Prayers Disallowed At Srinagar Jamia Masjid

Srinagar, September 08 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities disallowed Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, by sealing the area to prevent pro-Rohingya protests.
According to media sources, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers weekly sermon at the historic mosque, strongly denounced the authorities’ action. The Mirwaiz himself could offer Juma prayers as he is under house arrest since yesterday. Authorities imposed restrictions in several areas today to thwart protests against the killings of Rohingya Muslims. All roads leading to the historic mosque were sealed by rolls of concertina wires, witnesses said. No one was allowed to cross the barricades, they said. In a couple of tweets, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq denounced the puppet administration’s move to seal the area. “Protest against #RohingyaMuslimsGenocide severe restrictions imposed in downtown Srinagar, even children barred from going to schools,” he wrote.
