World Urged to Help Stop Systematic HR Violations in IOK

Geneva, September 21 (Kashmir Voice): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Farukh Amil has urged the international community to stand resolutely with the helpless Kashmiri women and children and forcefully call upon India to end its persistent and systematic human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. According to media sources, Ambassador Farukh Amil in his speech, under general debate agenda item 4 at the 36th Session of Human Rights Council in Geneva said that human rights violations in occupied Kashmir must not go unnoticed. He highlighted the plight of the innocent Kashmiris blinded by Indian troops and police personnel with the firing of pellets on peaceful protesters in the occupied territory. He said that the children and youth in occupied Kashmir throwing stones at the Indian forces knowing that they could be blinded or killed with impunity, was a testament of their unwavering spirit and desire for their right to self-determination, a right guaranteed to them by UN Security Council resolutions. “We expect the international community to stand resolutely with the helpless Kashmiri women and children and forcefully call upon India to end its persistent, systematic human rights violations. If not us then who would become the voice for the protection of the basic human rights of Kashmiris, their right to self-determination, and most of all their human dignity. Isn’t the Council made for this very purpose?” he asked. KASHMIR VOICE
