Clashes, Protests Continue In Islamabad Town

Srinagar, October 08 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, clashes erupted in Old town area of Islamabad district today, as youth took to streets against police excesses.
According to media sources, the clashes were reported from Reshibazar area of the town. The youth took to the streets and raised slogans against the highhandedness of Indian police. Meanwhile, traders continued their shutdown for the second consecutive day today to demand transfer of SHO Sadder police station. Traders warned of an indefinite strike until the SHO who committed excesses against them wasn’t transferred from the area. Yesterday, the traders said that police lobbed teargas shells inside their shops at Reshi Bazar during clashes with protesters. They said that some shopkeepers were roughed up police while six were detained. The traders, who staged a sit-in at Lal Chowk, demanded an end to police excesses and the transfer of the SHO.
