Khan’s Health Deteriorates in Tihar Jail, Shifted to Hospital

Srinagar, October 07 (Kashmir Voice): The family members of Illegally detained Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, have said that he was shifted to a Delhi hospital after his health deteriorated in Tihar Jail.
According to media sources, Nayeem Ahmed Khan’s family in a statement in Srinagar said that he had been seriously ill for the past some days. “During the intervening night of 5th and 6th October, his condition further deteriorated and he had to be shifted to Deen Dayal Upadiyay hospital. He has been suffering from various ailments and the jail authorities did not allow his brother to hand over medicines to him, which he used to take regularly, till he got the court order for the same. By that time his condition had worsened,” the statement said. It said that he was suffering from high fever and his blood count had drastically gone down. “As a punishment for resisting Indian domination, he and others are lodged in Tihar jail on judicial remand against the Indian National Investigation Agency’s own rules which spell out that the accused could be lodged in the jails of their own city or province,” the family members said in the statement, adding, “We appeal to human rights activists and defenders and all saner voices in India to raise the issue and get them released from this oppressive jail. It has endangered their lives.” “Nayeem Khan is neither being provided with the food which is prescribed by the doctor nor medicines nor any other facility needed for maintaining his health. And this is the story of every other Kashmiri in this jail,” the statement further said. KASHMIR VOICE
