Braid-Chopping: Protests Reach Civil Secretariat Srinagar

Srinagar, October 10 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the protests against braid-chopping in the Valley have finally reached the power corridors in Srinagar as government employees of Civil Secretariat protested against the growing incidents and demanded identification and subsequent action against the culprits. According to media sources, witnesses said that female staff of the Civil Secretariat assembled outside the office of Chief Secretary, BB Vyas, in Srinagar and staged a sit-in demanding action against the braid choppers. Meanwhile, braid of a 27-year-old woman was chopped off in Wangipora area of Sumbal in Bandipora district on Tuesday. Reports said that the woman (name withheld) was in the washroom when two unknown persons sprayed something on her, knocking her unconscious. “Her family members found her unconscious in the washroom and also found her chopped off hair. She was taken to CHC Sumbal in an unconscious state,” they said.Meanwhile, locals and family members held a protest demonstration in the lawns of CHC Sumbal against the incident. They raised anti-India slogans. Hair of dozens of young girls and women in many parts of the Valley have been mysteriously found chopped during the past month. KASHMIR VOICE
