Demos against Incessant Incidents of Braids-Chopping in IOK

Srinagar, October 10 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, protests erupted in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts, today, as braids of more women were found mysteriously chopped off.
According to media sources, protests erupted in Karan Nagar, Karfali Mohalla and Nawab Bazar areas of Srinagar on Tuesday against the braid-chopping. The protesters, mostly women, took to the streets and started raising slogans against the braid-chopping. The shopkeepers in the areas also downed their shutters after locals reported a braid-cutting incident at Habbakadal in the city. Meanwhile, residents of Kujar area of Ganderbal district came out of their houses to protest against the braid-chopping of a ten-year-old girl. They said that the girl was hospitalised following the braid-cutting incident. “She was discharged from the hospital after first aid,” said a resident. A tenth standard student said that unknown persons chopped off her braid after barging inside their bakery-cum-residential house in Arhama at around 6:00am in the district. Her family members said that the girl was found unconscious with her braid chopped off. A woman’s braid was also chopped off in Gur Seer area of Sopore in Baramulla district on Tuesday. This is the first such incident in Sopore. The braid of a 30-year-old woman was found mysteriously chopped off in Seer Jagir area of Sopore. The woman was rushed to hospital for medical help.KASHMIR VOICE
