Mufti Bashir, Mufti Nasir Concerned About Detainees’ Plight

Srinagar, December 03 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, Grand Mufti, Mufti Muhammad Bashir-ud-Din Farooqi and Deputy Grand Mufti, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam have expressed serious concern over the thrashing and beating of Kashmiri political prisoners lodged In New Delhi’s Tihar jail.
According to media sources, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din Farooqi and Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in a joint statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the assault on Kashmiri detainees in Tihar jail. They said that such inhuman acts could not be tolerated. They appealed to the international human rights organizations including UN Human Rights Commission, Asia Watch and the Amnesty International to impress upon India to ensure safety and security of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails. Meanwhile, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said the appointment of interlocutor by India is nothing but to pacify the mass uprising and to distort the historical facts about the Kashmir dispute. He called for implementation of the UN resolutions to settle the Kashmir dispute, once for all. KASHMIR VOICE
