APHC Terms Jitendra Singh’s Remarks on Kashmir Ridiculous

Srinagar, July 30 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the UN resolutions and the presence of UN observers in Jammu and Kashmir is clear proof that Kashmir is a disputed territory.
According to media sources, an APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar while reacting to the Indian minister Jitendra Singh’s remarks that Jammu and Kashmir is a “part of India” said that the remarks were sheer ignorance about the history of the Partition of the Sub Continent. “Jitendra Singh either mocks with the history or on foreseeing a logical defeat in Kashmir adopts an ostrich posture to deceive himself”, the spokesman added. On Singh’s remark that “media should not ask if India has any issue with Pakistan regarding Jammu and Kashmir”, the spokesman termed it as ridiculous and an act of distortion of the proven historical realities about the internationally accepted Kashmir issue. “Which country has placed Kashmir issue before the UN? The presence of UN observers in Jammu and Kashmir is yet another clear proof that it is a disputed territory,” the spokesman said and suggested Singh to have a fresh look on the history of Kashmir where people are engaged in a legitimate struggle for right to self-determination for the last seventy years. Meanwhile, the APHC condemned the recent arrest spree across the valley saying the youth are pushed to the wall and their social life is being disturbed. “The kith and kin of the incarcerated youth on their visit to the Hurriyat head office narrated woeful stories of barbarism,” the spokesperson said. The spokesman condemned the physical tortures of Feroz Ahmad Dar at the hands of cruel jail authorities at District Jail and termed the use of brute force against detainees as grave violation of human rights. He demanded probe into such incidents by the United Nations Human Rights Council. KASHMIR VOICE
