ER Rasheed Arrested During Solidarity March for Jammu Muslims

Srinagar, August 09 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Chairman Er Abdur Rasheed was detained on Thursday as police foiled his solidarity march for the Muslims of Jammu region.
According to media sources, scores of AIP workers led by Er Rasheed took out the march in Srinagar to express solidarity with Muslims of Jammu region who are feeling unsafe at the hands of Hindu extremist forces. Calling the killing of Murfad Shah as a pre-planned murder, the protesters demanded safety for the Muslims of Jammu region. Murfad Shah was shot dead by Central Reserve Police Force personnel at the residence of Farooq Abdullah, in Jammu last week. The family members of Shah have been demanding registration of FIR against the CRPF men. The march was also to support Article 35-A and Article 370 of the Indian constitution. As the protesters reached Press Enclave, Srinagar, police detained Er Rasheed along with his workers. Meanwhile, police on Thursday used force to thwart a teachers’ protest march towards the civil secretariat in Srinagar. Hundreds of teachers and employees associated with Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) staged a massive protest in Srinagar against the government’s failure to implement 7th pay commission for teachers, head teachers. As the protesting teachers tried to march towards the civil secretariat, the police deployed at the spot swung into action and thwarted their march by bundling dozens of representatives in a vehicle. As the teachers resisted, the police used water cannons to stop teachers from marching towards the civil secretariat.KASHMIR VOICE
