Kupwara Shuts to Mourn Killings of Youth

Srinagar, September 12 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Handwara, Langate and other areas of Kupwara district against the killing of youth by the Indian troops.
According to media sources, all shops and business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads. The authorities have deployed Indian troops at many places to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killings. Two youth identified as Liaqat Ahmed Lone and Furqan Rashid Lone were killed by the troops during a cordon and search operation in Galoora area of Handwara, yesterday. The authorities suspended the class work at higher secondary schools and Degree College Handwara to stop students from holding demonstrations. Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Zafar Akbar Butt, Abdul Samad Inqilabi and Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo in their separate statements condemned the killings.
