Rich Tributes Paid To Martyrs of Gaw Kadal Massacre

Srinagar, January 20 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre on the eve of their anniversary and said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs will not go waste.
According to media sources, over 50 people were killed and hundreds others were injured when Indian troops had opened fire on peaceful protesters in Gaw Kadal area of Srinagar on January 21 in 1990. Hurriyat leaders, Fazal Haq Qureshi, Masroor Abbas Ansari, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Bilal Siddiqi, Yasmeen Raja, Musaddiq Aadil, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Zafar Akbar Butt, Imtiaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War and Ghulam Nabi Waseem in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, paying homage to the martyrs said that the human rights groups had maintained a criminal silence over the killing of innocent Kashmiris. They said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and the ongoing freedom movement would be taken to its logical end. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Mir Shahid Saleem addressing a meeting of his party in Jammu said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would definitely bring positive results and the Kashmiri people would see the dawn of freedom soon. The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League at a meeting at its office in Srinagar also paid homage to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre. KASHMIR VOICE
