JI IOK Condemns Use of Brute Force on Civilians, Journalists

Srinagar, January 24 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamat-e-Islami has condemned the use of unjustified use of force by the authorities on the civilians and journalists who were performing their professional duties in Shopian.
According to media sources, Jamat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the action is not only inhuman but against the basic fundamental rights particularly the freedom of speech. In another incident, he said a teenager from Habakadal in Srinagar, Mohammad Younis got seriously injured when a party of the forces personnel threw stones and bricks on him without any justification. The innocent received a head injury and is lying in a hospital in a very critical condition, he deplored. The spokesman appealed to the world community to take serious note of the state terrorism the hapless people of the territory were facing and take effective measures to bring the violators to justice as per the international law. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has condemned fresh arrest spree and harassment of people in every nook and corner of Kashmir ahead of the Indian Republic Day (January 26). The JKNF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the men in uniform are arresting youth and insulting women and elderly citizens during the search operations, adding that it would not be tolerated.
