Pellet Blinded Insha Passes Board Exams Mirwaiz, DFP Call Her Resilience An Example

Srinagar, January 10 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, Insha Mushtaq, the girl completely blinded by pellets fired by Indian troops while she was inside her home in Shopian during the 2016 uprising, has passed her Class 10 board exams.
According to media sources, before her eyesight was taken away by pellets, Insha had 85 percent marks in Class 8 exams. She was watching street protests from the window of her home in Sedow village of Shopian on July 12, 2016, when pellets fired by the troops hit her right on the face, blinding her in both eyes. The teenage girl wanted to become a doctor and even after she was blinded, she said she would try her best to fulfill her dream. Insha told media that she could have done far better in the exams if she had not been blinded by the pellets. “I was expecting more, having worked hard for the exams, but you know what pellets did to me. After the injuries I was not able to study. I was allowed to have a writer in the exams and she did her best. She wrote faster than I dictated,” Insha said.
Mushtaq Ahmad, father of Insha, said his family was happy that Insha had cleared her exams.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar congratulated the pellet-blinded Insha for passing her 10th class exam, calling her resilience an example. He said, “Despite going through the trauma of losing her eyesight due to pellets, she has managed an amazing feat. Her determination and resilience is an example for everyone. May Allah bless her, always.” The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement also expressed joy over Insha’s achievement. It said, Insha lost her eyesight at the hands of Indian forces in 2016 but she did not give up. May Allah bless Insha!” KASHMIR VOICE

India Not Sincere in Kashmir Settlement: APHC

Srinagar, January 10 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India is not sincere in finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the political dispute over Jammu and Kashmir.
According to media sources, an APHC spokesman while commenting on the assertions made by senior Congress leader and former Indian minister P Chidambaram, in a statement in Srinagar said, “The government of India is yet to accept that Kashmir is a disputed territory and not a law and order problem.” Chidambaram, while slamming India’s Kashmir policy, had said wisdom lies in actively working towards a political solution to the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC spokesman said that it was Congress, which delayed the resolution of the Kashmir issue. “Congress leaders had pledged at national and international levels to resolve the issue by providing an opportunity to the Kashmiri people to decide their political destiny through plebiscite but they failed to keep their promise,” he added. “People offered unparalleled sacrifices for the resolution of Kashmir issue and the congress during its 60 years of rule resorted to every brute and ruthless force to curb and suppress voices in Kashmir. Now, when out of power, they recommend that power and oppression will not solve the issue of Kashmir,” the statement said. “It is our stand that Kashmir is a political problem and only political measures can resolve this long pending issue,” it said. Commenting on the BJP’s iron-fist policy in Kashmir, the spokesman said, “There is no form of atrocities and cruelty, which India did not try on the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but India failed to change the status of the Kashmir dispute.” “There is nothing new in the thinking process and pattern of the RSS and BJP. India used its entire military power in Kashmir and sometimes tried to buy the Kashmiris with different benefits and perks but the result is a big zero and after about seven decades now only few people like Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah sold themselves against these salaries and perks and there are no takers of India in Kashmir except these few people,” the APHC said. The spokesman said, the freedom sentiment in Kashmir is stronger and firmer and Kashmiris would not compromise on their right to self-determination. “If RSS and other parties continue to pursue their rigid policies, they will get nothing,” he added. The APHC advised the policy makers in New Delhi that they should open their eyes and accept the reality and should not insist on failed policies on Kashmir. “It is also better for RSS and BJP that they should think with cool mind over it and respect the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and give them a chance to decide their future,” it added. Mirwaiz, Others Condemn Civilian’s Killing in Kulgam

Srinagar, January 10 (Kashmir Voice): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the killing of a 20-year-old youth, Khalid Ahmad Dar, in the firing of Indian troops in Kulgam district.
According to media sources, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Khalid was shot in his chest by the troops at Khudwani in Kulgam district. He said, people who protest against Indian army’s search operations and the use of force are responded with lethal pellets and bullets. “The bloodbath of Kashmiri youth continues unabated under one pretext or another by the forces while human rights organizations, civil society, peace activists and humanists in India and outside are observing a criminal silence on it.” Meanwhile, the Hurriyat forum while paying tributes to three youth, martyred by the troops in Badgam and Islamabad districts said, “Kashmiri youth are offering priceless sacrifices for a great cause and their sacrifices are the assets of the Kashmir struggle and it’s the collective responsibility of people and the leadership to safeguard these sacrifices.” “People of Kashmir and the resistance leadership need to remain steadfast to ensure that the mission of martyrs is accomplished,” the Hurriyat forum said in a statement issued in Srinagar. “Instead of resolving Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of people of Kashmir, India has adopted an oppressive and stubborn approach, muzzling genuine voices by use of military might chocking all space for peaceful resistance. As there is no end to atrocities and persecution being inflicted upon the common people especially the youth currently in the form of cordon and search operations, the youth feel frustrated and pushed to wall and left with no choice other than to pick up arms as a means of resistance,” the statement added. Other Hurriyat leaders and organizations including JKLF-R, Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen and Peoples Freedom League in their separate statements also paid tributes to Chadoora martyrs. They termed the sacrifices of the youth as a precious asset of the Kashmir freedom movement. KASHMIR VOICE
